As you might have seen in my Birthday Clothing Haul I uploaded on Sunday, I received this play-suit for my birthday and I absoloutley love it.

I adore the lace up front detail and it's something I'm seeing everywhere at the moment so knew I had to get it! The material is super comfy and stretchy making it easy to flounce around like fairy...if you feel like it... or to carry a food baby and have it go unnoticed.

It makes me feel almost 'Gothic' and 'witchy', which (haha witch which), I weirdly kindaa like... It also has that element of a 70s vibe though. I however, do look more on the Gothic side... *darn you, pale pale skin*

On my lips I decided to wear Revlon's Chocolicious and my shoes are from Topshop!

I'm looking forward to styling this up a bit more and creating some different looks.

Aaah, the leather dress - THAT I BOUGHT ON SALE! That's right, I picked this beauty up for just £30 in the Zara Sale and it has got to be one of the snazzy pieces i've bought in a while!

I love the fact that the leather is cream/nude rather than black, making it a bit more unusual than any other leather dress out there. I think it looks so great with a nude lip and a bit of NARS Laguna bronzer on the cheeks.

Here i've styled it simply with my new Topshop peep toes, some lovely pieces from Lyla Loves and MAC's Kinda Sexy on the lips.

Yesterday I finally turned 17, after, what felt like, forever! I spent the day out at the cinema seeing Jurassic World (highly recommend) and having a bit of a shop afterwards. I just wanted an easy day, so opted for a comfy outfit - a white tee, a black midi skirt, a black bomber and boots!

In the evening I got to see my friends, which was lovely and I received some really nice cards and a fabulous present from them... Thanks guys♥

Now I'm in my eighteenth year and I am ambitious to see what the future holds...bring it on!

On my day of birth, I thought it would be nice to share with you some of the fabulous blogs I've been reading lately and why you should head on over and check them out!

1. The Little Plum

First, we have Chloe, who is one sassy gal! I first found Chloe on instagram and became instantly addicted to her style and her herself. She's absoloutley lovely and posts the most amazing outfits (I want to raid her wardrobe!). Her photographs are some of my favourites and I love reading every single one of her posts! Find her on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

2. Salt and Chic

Amy is someone who's blog I well and truly look up to. Her blog is mainly about Fashion and she has such a unique style. I'm so glad that I stumbled across her as I absolutely love everything she does and feel honoured to have advertised HLTST on her blog back in May this year! Find her on Instagram and Twitter.

3. Zoe London

Now, it would surprise me if you haven't heard of Zoe but I had to include her anyway! Her blog covers everything from Fashion, Music, Beauty to Lifestyle, Food and Travel. She has a lovely way about her and has inspired me to stay true to me with my blog and what I do. She has an alternative style and the most amazing hair - go check her out! Find her on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

4. Frock Me I'm Famous

Hayley is seriously my flat-lay inspiration. She takes the most gorgeous photos and has some of the best advice posts out there. She also talks about fashion, beauty and travel! Ever since I found her blog, i've been hooked. She's a down to earth girl with loads to share and definitely deserves a whole lot of love from you guys! Find her on Instagram and Twitter.

5. Layla Panam

Layla is an absolute babe- I'm majorly envious. She posts predominantly about Fashion, as well as a bit of beauty and lifestyle here and there and just has amazing style. Her fashion sense is right up my street and I adore her outfit photos! Plus- this girl has the most gorgeous hair! Find her on Instagram and Twitter.

6. The Good Owl

Finally, we have Charlotte. She posts about everything on the spectrum - Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle - everything! She's a fellow Ginge (I wrote this before you went blonde girlll haha!) and quickly becoming one of my faves. Her posts are so enjoyable to read and her photography is always on point. Find her on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

When it comes to eye make up, I like to keep it neutral. Today I thought that I would share with you some of my favourite MAC Eye Colours!

First up we have a MAC Paint Pot in the shade Rubenesque. Now, I am forever raving about this colour - it's probably my number one colour. It's a gorgeous peachy gold shade with an almost metallic finish. I use it everyday, (you can see me using it in my Everyday Make Up Routine over on my channel), and I simply just apply it with my fingers. It's as easy as that and you get such a beautiful pay off!

MAC Cork is next (second from the bottom left corner of my palette). I do currently use this shade for my eyebrows, but I also love it on the eyes. It works perfect with blue eyes, making them 'pop' and creates a much lighter smoky look than using a black eye shadow. I love having it in my palette and think it's great for those ginger gals out there like me!

Then we have Dreammaker (top right corner of my palette). This shadow is actually from the MAC Caramel Sundae Palette from the Archie's Girls Collection. I love this shade for brightening the eyes and it also works well as a highlighter. It's a yellow gold shade with a frost finish and I really enjoy using it!

What neutral eye colours should I try next from MAC?

I know it's a weird time of year to be eyeing up leather jackets... but who can blame a gal?!

1. Noisy May Faux Leather Bomber Jacket
I have been on the hunt for a bomber jacket for months and months. I'm still yet to find one I looooove. However, when I spotted this bomber/leather jacket hybrid I thought that it was pretty damn cool.

2. Mango Leather and Suede Mix Jacket
I'm a lover of suede right now and it is definitely on trend considering the 70's vibe that is floating around. Combining both a suede and leather material into one jacket makes me want to scream 'HALLELUJAH'. I'd love to get my hands on that!

3. Mango Fringe Biker Jacket
Fringe fringe fringe. From crop tops, to bags, fringe is on everything right now. But, you can't beat a fringed leather jacket. It's just so sassy...

4. Just Female Came Leather Jacket
Now, I have to say, I think this one is my favourite. This jacket has a classic look and would be timeless in your wardrobe- so goood to throw over any outfit and would be sooo Sandy from Grease with little bit of red lippy!

While I begin to type this post, I worry that it may come across as 'moany' or almost 'ungrateful' but that is not my intention. Being in the situation that I am currently in - not in education and focusing entirely on blogging - my life can sometimes be incredibly lonely.

I have brilliant friends in my life, don't get me wrong, and my family are so supportive... But when you don't get to spend everyday together like you used to or things prevent you from going out etc etc, it's hard to not feel like you're missing out. It's not that I don't get invited to places sometimes, I do, but there are somethings which I just feel like I can't do.. and I hate that.

I see photos and snapchat stories of people out with their friends drinking, laughing, having fun and I think 'Why am I not doing that?' or even when I think about college... I think about all the new friends I could have made or the fact that I would have just finished my first year of A levels and I just feel kind of ..pathetic.

A few months ago, I thought that I would have my life sorted by now, but I still feel like I'm floating in this abyss and I'm quickly falling behind everyone else. No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to pull myself together fully.. If one thing is going fine, something else goes wrong.

I spend a lot of time alone and to be honest I don't mind, I like my own company. But I just miss being able to socialise and knowing who or what my friends or talking about. I often just question 'Why did it all happen?' 'Why did I drop out of college?' 'Why are you so alone?' and that's when everything begins to feel like one huge mistake. I feel so alone and out of the loop and I can't seem to get my head around what to do. I feel like if I had stayed at college then I'd see my friends everyday, I'd be getting an education and I'd feel better. However, I also know that if I had stayed, there is no way that my blog would be the way it is now and I know that I wouldn't cope. At college or work, people have others around them to interact with, I don't have that. I just miss seeing people in person or making conversation and knowing what's been happening. I do try and get out the house as much as I can, going for little walks or shopping/cinema trips, but it's so easy to let my feelings overwhelm me.

My blog is my little dream and stands for who I truly am and what I love.. I am person underneath however, not just an image in a photo, and I sometimes feel incredibly alone doing what I do now. It is lovely to read your comments and talk to you guys on social media, it makes me feel so appreciated and thank you for that, it does help with things. I am very proud of my blog and so happy that I bit the bullet and created it but it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort, so It's hard to not get lonely.

I don't really know what this post is.. I just kind of wanted to vent a little. If you've read this far, thank you and If you ever need someone to talk to, know that I'm here.

Rooting through the H&M SALE the other day, I stumbled upon this gorgeous skirt and knew that I had to make it mine. It was only £15, perfect for summer and is right up my street!

I wasn't too sure if I'd be able to pull it off as I'm not one to usually show my legs at all but I thought I would give it a go!

I styled it simply with a gingham bra-let and my HENNING Sunnies by Lines and Current. I added a red lip and left it at that... I always believe that less is more and I think that that really applies here with this skirt. I adore the crochet detail and the high waisted style - I always like high waisted pieces as I feel like they're the most flattering on me.

I love love love it!

How would you style this skirt? Let me know in the comments!

Some days, we all just want to whack on some neutral make up and go about our day right? No need for the bold lip or smoky eyes...I got you covered.

To keep my skin clear, recently I have been loving Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair. It keeps my skin feeling plump and helps to reduce any redness. Applying this before my make up has kept my skin a lot clearer than before when I just used to spread on my foundation, so it is perfect for those 'no make up, make up, days'.

If you've got fair eye lashes like me, you still might want to apply a little mascara but if not, simply giving your eye lids a little wash of colour can help to wake up those tired looking eyes. A neutral brown tone can work wonders or a pale pink can too!

Highlighting is key, especially if you're going for no foundation like I do. I usually powder my skin using a light powder like the Chanel one here and then apply a little bit of highlighter to the areas of my face that need it most. If your skin is looking a little dull, adding a little bit of blusher works also.

For lips I always opt for a nude shade. I like this browny nude from Bare Minerals, 'Make Your Move'.

What do you wear on minimal make up days?..

*I was feeling kind of Twiggy inspired with this hair and make up*
Recently on a mooch round Topshop, I picked up this lovely cross-over blouse and knew that I had to style it. I thought it'd go for a kind of classy look and incorporate a pair of high heels.

Here i've styled it with my H&M pencil skirt and Red herring heels. I really love this look and despite it being kind of unusual for me ... i'm totally feeling it! The slick back hair is something that I never really go for but if Twiggy can do it, so can I, right?!

Let me know what you guys think of this outfit? and the hair... YES or NO? *we should have tick boxes*

Recently, one of the creators for Arte magazine got in touch with me and asked me to take a look.

Arte is a new quarterly magazine dedicated to providing a minimalist take on creative culture; highlighting the most amazing places, projects and people. Their first issue is 160 pages and covers travel, architecture, interior design and fashion - all the things I love.

As someone who is in love with minimalist style, I would love to see this magazine succeed. I love seeing people capture beauty in the most simplest of things and it's great to see that people would be able to share that through a magazine like this. Plus, the magazine is truly lovely to capture in a photo itself.. like seriously? How chic?!

You can find out more and help out on Kickstarter HERE.

I think the magazine looks super promising and is definitely right up my street- go take a look!

Today, I have been blogging for 1 whole year! *dancing lady emoji*

Holly Loves The Simple Things started on June 16th 2014 but I feel like my blogging journey began way way before that. I began wanting to make a blog in around 2011 when I had been watching YouTube and reading blogs for almost 2 years already. I just loved it all. The fact that there is this world on the internet where people can express themselves and share what they love, is amazing. I just wanted to be a part of it. During that time however, I was still at high school and way too easily embarrassed to just go for it.

Something just came over me last year. Everything in my world seemed to be going wrong and I wanted to keep hold of something I knew helped me feel safe. Blogging became my release. I could talk about the things that made me happy, take photos and interact with people who had no pre-judgements about me.

For a month or two last year, I had to take a break from blogging, but since getting back into the swing of things in January, I have well and truly found my happy place. Holly Loves The Simple Things is my little dream and I love it.

Within a year I have hit 600 Bloglovin' followers and my Instagram account is filled with your guys' love!

I really hope you enjoy what I bring to my blog and that it keeps you in high spirits. I know what it's like to want to escape- blogs and YouTube are such a great way to do so nowadays. Please keep reading and commenting- it makes me so so happy! Thank you to you all!

Recently, Powder UK got in contact with me and lovingly sent me one of their gorgeous scarves. As soon as it arrived I just couldn't wait to style it up!

The scarf I chose was the Hetty Natural scarf and I thought it would work perfectly with an all white outfit. I styled my scarf with a high neck white tee from Topshop, along with some white linen trousers. I love how the scarf's detail becomes the focus of attention against the rest of my outfit! The material of the scarf is lovely and perfect for spring. You should definitely check out Powder, they have some lovely designs!
