You may have read my recent post about my evening at the Ark x Motel #yulebelieve event (if not, you can click here), where I mentioned that I received a lovely dress in Secret Santa and well, here I am...wearing it!

This dress just screams 'Christmas & New Years' - the glittery sequins and the flared sleeves make me feel like an Ice princess but the black colour helps me keep my minimalist look. It would be perfect for a night out over the festive period and pairs perfectly with my black heels and a neutral lip - or it I bet it would look fab with a vampy purple!

It's nice that even if you're completely obsessed with wearing black, like me, that you can still find something a bit glitzy to dress up in over Christmas and get in the festive spirit..

If you want to pick this dress up for yourself, just click here and remember to head on over to the Ark blog and read all about the #Yulebelive event! ♥

// DRESS - JARLO LONDON //

I am a total minimalist. I love grabbing a pair of black jeans, my black turtle neck and slipping on my Chelsea boots and basically looking like a cat burglar but thinking I look super chic haha. Sometimes this makes me think that I might struggle when it comes to dressing up a bit fancier and finding something to suit my style. However, I was recently contacted by Jarlo London, who are an independent London based brand who specialise in beautiful occasion dresses, and well, I just couldn't resist saying yes!

I had a look at their collection and my eyes were instantly drawn to their beautiful Carmelita Dress in Ivory. It was just so simple and beautiful, I knew it was the one I HAD to have. From the moment I chose it off their site, I had been planning how I would style it, how I wanted the photos to look..everything! I wanted to make this post super glamorous...

Unfortunately, the weather has not been my friend these past few weeks and finding the opportunity to shoot has been incredibly difficult. But, I am still pretty happy with the result. I love the dress so much and do you know what? I can't wait any longer to share it with you!

I decided I wanted to kind of create a bit of a Hollywood glamour look. I knew from the moment I got the dress that I would be pairing it with a red lip and curly hair and I wanted to get as artistic with it as possible! (You know me, I'm a total poser haha) When I got myself ready to shoot the photos I just got this little moment of inspiration where I was like 'I look a little bit like Marilyn Monroe right now'...obviously no where near as beautiful and graceful though *falls off chair*

I have honestly never felt so glamorous as I did in this dress and I definitely think that if you're looking for some glamours occasion wear, maybe for prom or a wedding - whatever the occasion - Jarlo London is a site you need to get onto and check out their pieces!

Head to their site by clicking here and have a good mooch...g'wan, I dare yaaa!

As someone who seems to find themselves always 'up to something' at the moment, I often find it really hard to just chill out. I feel like my mind is constantly ticking over and thinking about what I need to get done and sometimes, that can get rather exhausting. Recently, I have taken a little step back from blogging and what not and it's been really nice to actually feel relaxed and rested, rather than feeling completely burnt out.

Step Away From The Blog

The first thing I had to do to chill out was simply, stop blogging for a little bit. Well, I say 'simply' but honestly it's such a hard thing to do. At the end of the day, my blog is my baby, my pride and joy and I love writing and photographing for it. However, I was beginning to feel like my posts were a little 'lack lustre' and had a little bit of writers block and felt kind of uninspired. Taking a little break from your blog can spark so many new ideas that you probably wouldn't have come up with just by staring at blogger on your laptop screen. Give your mind a rest!

Online Shop/Wardrobe Refresh

As a fashion blogger, sometimes you get sent pieces to style or you buy new bits and pieces to write about, but after a while I think you can begin to feel suffocated by clothes and well, that kind of made me feel like I'd lost my sense of style for a bit. I would look at my wardrobe and keep grabbing for the same pair of jeans, the same top and the same boots and well, the rest I just didn't need. I cleared my wardrobe out and created a capsule wardrobe for myself and honestly, I feel so much more at ease. I popped everything else on Depop (username - holrebeccawhite) and it was like this huge pile of clothes had been lifted from my shoulders haha.

Online shopping is great too! It helps to inspire new outfit ideas and also to fill any gaps there might be in your wardrobe. After I cleared my wardrobe out, I realised that I could maybe do with a few more basic tops and jeans since that's basically my attire for just day-to-day and so, I began to search the internet to find the perfect pieces. Also, it's just sooooo therapeutic to scroll through clothing sites!

Treat Yourself!

This links in with the online shopping, but sometimes, you just need to treat yourself! Is there something that you've been eyeing up on Missguided for the past 4 weeks? Well, go buy it! Sometimes it's nice to reward yourself for all your hard work!

Get Out The House

This is a big one. Bloggers tend to spend a lot of time in their houses, unless we're out shooting outfits or at events and often it can make us become kind of recluses. Simply just walking to your local shop or even having a day at a friends house instead can help you feel more at ease and take your mind off the blogging for a bit. Also, fresh air just does you the world of good and helps to perk up your mood. Sometimes I'll just take myself for a little walk and just try and appreciate my surroundings and forget the internet world for a while.

Recently, I've been here there and everywhere and I have to say it's done me soooo much good. I've travelled to new places all on my lonesome and it's given me such independence. I mean, obviously I'm not saying to get out of your house, you need to take a trip to London on your own, but I'm just using that as an example of how it has helped me!

Write A Plan

Writing your ideas down on paper and getting them out of your mish mashed head, helps to make things so much clearer. It is much easier to find a place to start when you've got it all written out in front of you. I like writing different lists and then trying to organise it all together once I've got it all out on paper. For example, I might make a list of events I'm going to, then a list of blog post ideas and then maybe a list of collaborations I'm doing. Then after that, it's much easier to think about dates and organise who, what, where, when, why and how!

Hopefully this is helpful to any of you feeling a bit mithered at the moment! Just remember - it's okay to take a break! ♥

Tell me, what do you do to 'just chill'?

On Monday 16th November, I headed off into Manchester for a loving evening at the Ark x Motel #Yulebelieve Christmas Event. I got to meet lots of lovely vloggers/bloggers and even vlogged the night for you a little bit, which you can watch here.

The event was hosted at the lovely Abel Heywood Hotel, which is just a gorgeous place filled with lovely vintage decor and it just felt very nice and homely! As you can see in my vlog, Ark had the place decked out with rails of Christmas and New Years Eve ready pieces for us to take a look at and basically drool over haha. I particularly loved the big black fur coat from Hearts and Bows. There was also lots of tasty food and delicious drinks - lots of sipping on Presecco and Ginger Mojitos - yum!

Whilst we were there, we did Secret Santa and all got to open a present that another blogger had chosen for us. I still have no idea who had me, but whoever it was chose this gorgeous Motel Lou Sequin Tinsel Dress for me and I love it! (blog post coming soon ehehe!)

I had a fab evening and it was so nice to get in the festive spirit and just have a good natter with some lovely ladies. Thanks so much to Natalie and Becky for hosting it and also thank you to Motel Rocks and The Vintage Cosmetics Company for my goodie bags!

Remember that you can watch my vlog of the night here and also stay tuned to see me style my secret Santa piece. Ark have a blog post up too, which you can check out here and it's currently 30% off everything on their site, so go go go!

If you know me, you know that I literally live in either my heeled Chelsea boots or my black high heels. Unfortunately, my little ol' boots are starting to get a bit worse for wear (although I don't think I'll ever throw them away) and so, I've started to look at finding a new pair.

I'm obsessed with wearing heeled shoes because I love feeling taller (still hoping I'm going to grow another 3 inches taller....*prays really hard*) and so I headed onto ASOS and Zara, two of my all time fav places/sites to shop and selected the 'heeled boots' category and off I went!

1. Boohoo Leather Block Heeled Ankle Boots £50.00

This pair are probably the most similar to my beloved heeled chelseas, but obviously these are a lot more shiny and new. I love the look of the leather and the little zip fastening and I just think these would be a perfect replacement! (£50 ain't bad either! am I right?)

2. Zara High Heel Sock Style Ankle Boots £39.99

Oh these are beauties aren't they? *heart eyes emoji*. I absoloutley love the quirky style of these boots and it definitely seems to be a trend at the moment. I've seen so many different colours of these too, including burgundy, leopard print, snake print, tan and so many others! And, with a heel of 9cm, I'm bound to feel hella taller haha!

3. New Look Premium Heeled Boot with Pointed Toe £59.99

This pair just literally scream 'Oooo you classy lady' to me and I think these would add so much elegance to an outfit. I love the skinny heel and smooth leather - so chic and the elasticated side panels mean they're going to be much easier to slip on than other shoes. I can picture myself strutting round in these thinking I'm some smart business lady (when really I'm a total couch potato haha).

Those are a few pairs of boots I've been lusting over recently, let me know if you've seen any I might like and if I've inspired any online shopping today haha!

Hola, Beunos Dias! Today I thought that i would share with you some of the lovely bloggers I've been loving recently...so here goes!

Phases Of Robyn
Robyn is my gal. You probably already knew that. but anyway... I adore her blog and even though we have different styles, I love seeing how she styles things up! Her blog is easy to read and fun and also has lovely photography (despite what she may think herself *tut tut*).. She is also doing one for all of us speccy four eyes out there because she is just such a hottie in those specs ♥

Wonderful You
Megan is so gorgeous and lovely, it genuinely makes me want to cry haha. I'd followed her on Instagram from a while before I started watching her Youtube videos and reading her blog but oh my god, what was I doing with my life?! She's fab! Also her blog recently had a re-vamp and it's absoloutley stunning - go check it out!

Peexo
Patricia has quite similar style to me (or she wears what I'd like to wear anyway!), so I love seeing how she wears pieces and pairs things together (although.. she manages to make things a lot cooler and add a lot more colour haha). Her style is quite minimal like mine, but I absolutely love how she layers her pieces and mixes things up. Also, can I just add that, she's bloody beautiful?! Face goals right there!

Hello my lovely readers! I'm sorry that it's been a while since I've posted. I've been quite busy at the moment just basically trying to sort my life out haha. For a while, I've been a bit like 'Gaaaah! What am I doing?!' and sometimes you just need to take a step back and figure stuff out.

There are definitely some exciting things coming my way (if all goes to plan *fingers crossed*) and I honestly can't wait to share that all with you. I've been struggling to do outfit posts due to the crappy rainy weather and it's totally getting me down, but I'm going to try and keep posting regular posts for you all - so basically just keep your eyes peeled, I should hopefully be back on the blogging roll very soon.

This year, as many of you probably know, I've spent recovering from silly illnesses and kind of finding myself again (as cheesy as that sounds haha) and do you know what? I'm getting there! I adore blogging and Youtube and it's always going to be something I love to do but there are also things away from all of that that I would like to work on. And, well, I guess I'll kind of reveal that all to you when it's all much more official. I'm trying to figure out the balance between all the different things I want to do and everything, so taking a little step back was the best thing for me.

If I'm totally honest I don't really know the point of this post...it's just kind of an explanation as to why I might be a little quieter than usual! Anyway, I hope you're all doing okay? Let me know down in the comments!

I'll be back with you asap guys ♥

I know what you're thinking... 'Dorothy Perkins?...woah, way to go Hol!' and I KNOW RIGHT?! Honestly, when this collaboration popped into my inbox, I got so so giddy! Dorothy Perkins are a shop that I always walk past when I'm out shopping and that I often pop into to check out what they've got in store. To think that they want to work with little ol' me.. wow!

I'm joining them in their Let It Shine campaign ready in time for the Christmas season. Instantly when I tried this outfit on, I felt oh so festive. I decided that I wanted to blog about their partywear as I know exactly what it's like when you get to the party season and have that mad panic and cry 'I have nothing to wear!' ... But, I'll tell you what though ladies...Dorothy Perkins have got you covered!

I bet you're all thinking that this outfit is completely out of my comfort zone, or at least not something I'd usually go for - you're right... However, if there's any time of year to get out the glitz and feel glamorous, it's Christmas!

Here, I'm wearing this gorgeous two piece made up of the most beautiful sequinned material. I think that this look is so chic and elegant due to the shape and length of the pieces, but the way that the material is so fun and exciting really brings the look to life! I have. as you can probably tell. stuck to my 'don't buy colour' rule though haha. I think it's great that us minimalist lovers can find something a little more jazzy to wear if we want to, but still manage to keep things nice and, well... minimal!

I simply paired the two piece with my white heels and added my Links of London bracelet to just add a little bitta something and voila, I was done! I don't think you need to add much to this look at all - let the outfit do all the talking.

I think this outfit is so so pretty and Dorothy Perkins have so many other gorgeous pieces in stock too! Head on over to their site by clicking here and browse away and find yourself something sparkly to wear this party season!

Also, let me know how you'd style these pieces and whether you like this look! Big loves ♥

The other week I popped down to Liverpool with my bestie Annie (hiya if ya reading gal) and got to have a look at all of the lovely stuff that the Metquarter are stocking this Christmas.

Let's start with Fashion, since we all know that that's we love to read about here on Simple Things. The Metquarter are stocking some absolutely gorgeous pieces this season including this ever so chic Olive Vegan Leather Military Pencil Skirt by House of CB (£79) and these lovely Patent Leather Sandals also by House of CB (£119.99).

I absoloutley love both of these pieces - they're definitely ones that I'd like in my wardrobe!

They're also stocking gorgeous jewellery like this beautiful piece by Mococo (£535).

Jewellery is always a lovely Christmas gift because it can be such a sentimental present to give to someone - especially if it's a piece as gorgeous as this!

There will be lots of fabulous beauty bits to get your hands on too. I personally loved the look of the lovely Illamasqua Lipsticks (£19.50) and Nail Polishes, as well as the Sassoon Professional Diamond Polish hair kit (£19.50)!

I love receiving beauty items at Christmas because it's great to have new things to try and test out on Christmas Day. Nail polishes are a great one too because any glittery shade is going to look fabulous this festive season!

If you're looking for something a little bigger, maybe for a parent or partner, then check out their amazing Harvey Nichols Hampers, full up with Christmas goodies (ranging from £55-£500) I think hampers are a great gift when you're not too sure exactly what someone might want, because they are just filled up with things that people love: wine, chocolates, candles, scrubs..lots of stuff! This is a definite go to for parents and older relatives I think!

Honestly, there are so many fab things for you to get your hands on and it's great because Liverpool Metquarter is super easy to find! It's situated at the heart of Liverpool city centre and plays host to so many amazing brands such as MAC, Hugo Boss, Illamasqua, etc etc. For more information head to www.metquarter.com

At Liverpool Metquater This Christmas...
