The 'Me Time' Tag

This is part two of my Photography tips and is going to be all about how I go about editing my photos.
I love the process of editing an image and making it the best that it can be. For my photos I love using my VSCO Cam app or I have used Photoshop in the past.

Filters - Using the VSCO Cam app, I select a filter that works the best with my photo before going on to enhance the photo more. I like the pre-sets C4, H1, H2, A5, S2, B1 and B2.

Exposure - The first thing that I like to do is increase the exposure. I find that this helps my photo to look brighter and cleaner, which is a style that I really like. I increase the exposure by 25-50% usually. Sometimes I will also decrease the exposure depending on the quality of my image.

Contrast - Next, I like to play around with the contrast. I usually like to increase the contrast as I find it helps my photo to look sharper and more focused.

Temperature/Saturation - Sometimes I find that a photo has quite a warm-yellow tone to it due to the lighting or location. I like to decrease the temperature/saturation of my images to keep the colour scheme much more neutral and fresh. Alternatively I may increase the temperature depending on the image I am editing.

Sharpness - I also like to increase the sharpness of my images to showcase the quality much better. This makes my photos appear very focused and precise.

I play around with these steps until I create a photo which I am perfectly happy with.

I hope these tips helped and enjoy editing!

This post has been so over-requested by you guys that I thought that it was finally time I put something together. I am in no way a photography expert but I love taking photos and the process of creating beautiful imagery. This is going to be a bit of a simple guide of how I go about taking my photos and hopefully you guys find it helpful. Also, I have split this post into two - one post being about taking photos and the other being about editing photos. So, lets jump right into post one!

Learn your way around a camera - It helps to know a little about the camera you are using and the way to get the best outcome out of it. You can find simple tips on-line about changing the ISO and using your own custom settings to produce quality imagery.

Plan ahead - When it comes to my photos I like to think about what I want it to look like. I think about the composition: What background? What will be in the photo? One object/person or more? What colours? I like to use others as inspiration, as well as Tumblr/Pinterest and make sure I have everything I need for that particular photo. If it's an outfit photo, I like to think about location and the outfit I will be wearing - I want them to work together and be coherent.

Try out different perspectives - Think about what angle you want to take your photo from. Do you want a front on shot, a birds eye view, etc.? How close to your subject do you want to be? Do you want a close up or a long shot? Take a few different shots until you find one you really like.

What is the purpose of the photo? - Additionally, I like to think about what I might say about my photo. If it's an outfit photo, I need to ensure I talk about every aspect of an outfit and highlight that to my readers.

I hope these tips helped! Keep an eye for the second post tommorow!

Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - This powder is definitely holy grail material. It's perfect for setting foundation and creating a matte look. It's great for if you have oily skin or tend to find that your foundation magically disappears throughout the day. One of my favourite Mac products of all time.

Chanel Les Beiges - Looking to add a healthy glow? This powder is the one for you. It's super light on the skin, perfect for the warmer months and yet seems to have an airbrushing effect that you wouldn't expect. The packaging being so beautiful is an added bonus too!

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder - This summer, even the palest of the pale want to be able to add a bit of warmth to their make up and this is where Bobbi Brown becomes our Knight in shining armour. This bronzing powder gives every girl that beautiful summer glow we all need. It's perfect for contouring too, as well as just being a great all round bronzer.

Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte - This powder is great for those days where you want a light coverage. It perfectly allows your skin to come through whilst also giving you a flawless finish.. It seems undetectable on this skin and is going to come in super handy for any kind of heatwave.

After completely forgetting that I had this super comfy pair of Adidas hidden at the back of my wardrobe, well, I found them and decided that it's about time I styled them up a bit.

My Jumper is an oversized black and white -sports luxe - knit from Boohoo. I absoloutley love it. It's great for those comfy days - just lounging around and I paired it with everyone's fave on lazy day, leggings. My Adidas really tie this look together, creating those sporty vibes and making this outfit nice and casual.

This isn't my usual style but i really liked the look. What's your advice for styling trainers? Let me know!

Whilst in Brighton I couldn't help but take a trip down to The Flour Pot Bakery after hearing Alfie Deyes rave about it on his vlog channel! So on our second day we headed down there for some lunch!

The interior was absoloutley gorgeous and right up my street - lots of copper and white walls! The food was all fresh and presented beautifully on the counter. It all looked super tasty!

I opted for a cheese and ham toastie and a lovely green tea. The tea cups were soooo cute with 'The Flour Pot Bakery' logo printed on the inside and my tea came in a pretty little tea pot. My Dad ordered a coffee which looked delicious too! I really enjoyed my food there!

The seating area was so quirky, with little tables and benches to sit on! The vibe was so relaxed and i just absoloutley adored the place.

If you're ever in Brighton, definitely hit this place up! Find them at: No. 40 Sydney Street, North Laine, Brighton

The Maybelline pencils are a little smaller and shorter in shape and size compared to the Nars ones, and are also made from wood whereas the Nars packaging is a plastic-like material.

Maybelline's pencil's come in at £4.99 each, which is a pretty good bargain. They have good colour pay off and can be used both as a lip stick or simply to line your lips. However, compared to the Nars pencils, they are a lot drier in texture and tend to drag. I find that this really dehydrates my lips leaving them flaky. Applying lip balm will most likely help with this problem.

The Nars pencils are much creamier, although this does mean that they don't last quite as long as the Maybelline ones. These also have great pigmentation and come in a variety of colours. The price tag for these is £19.00, £14.00 more than the Maybelline colour drama lip pencils.

Despite the slight difference in texture, the Maybelline pencils could certainly be seen as a dupe for Nars. However, if you do have the money then I would opt for the Nars pencils just due to the nicer quality of the product.

Chanel Vita Lumière Aqua - For a light and airy base this spring/summer, use this bad boy. Every year, whenever the heat is getting just a bit too much, I grab this and I know that it will leave my skin feeling fresh throughout the day.

Benefit POREfessional - During the warmer months my skin tends to become a lot oilier and this is where POREfessional comes in. It diminishes the appearance of pores and makes my skin look lovely and smooth.

Benefit Roller Lash - This mascara is new to us this year but is perfect for creating those long luscious lashes.

Mac Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set - For brows that won't budge in the heat, this is the thing you need! Fill in your brows and brush this over them and i'm telling you, your brow game is gonna' be strong for the whole day.

A basic grey tee is something that everyone needs in they're wardrobe. You can dress them up, dress them down and create pretty much any look you want with them. You could create a more casual look like i have here or style one with a white blazer and heels to create a more classy look.

I like to go for a round neck tee, as I find the fit the most flattering. However, you can also switch it up and go for a v-neck or even a high neck tee to create some even more interesting looks.

If you haven't got yourself some basic tees- go get one... now!

After hearing about them from Alfie Deyes/Zoe Sugg and Rhiannon from Fashion Rocks My Socks, I knew that I had to head to Blue Bird Tea Company whilst I was in Brighton.

They are tea 'mixologists' specialising in blending your perfect cup of loose leaf tea. They offer a wide variety of teas and flavours, including Strawberry Lemonade and Candy Floss and also sell a bunch of accessories to go along with it.

I tried the Super Tea which was unusual but really yummy. The staff were super lovely and the shop itself was so nice, it even had a seating area for you to wait for your drink to be made. There were tins clearly labelled with different flavours so it was easy to see what was on offer, plus they made the place look really cool and quirky. I highly recommend you check them out if you're ever in their area!

You know I'm a sucker for a sweet scent, so when smelling this, I fell in love.

It's a such a gorgeous smell and I just can't stop wearing it. There are both woody and citrus notes, but most of all you get a strong scent of caramel - really yummy. It's super long lasting, I can smell it on me through out the day and I've definitely got a few compliments when having it on. If you love vanilla you'll love this!

The bottle is adorable and a beautiful addition to anyone's dressing table. It comes shaped as a wrapped up sweet or 'bon bon' and is said to be a celebration of women who love to indulge.

I definitely recommend this to any sweet tooth's out there.
Give it a go!

#AskHol Q&A

My last day in Brighton was super sunny and that could only mean it was time to whip out my culottes and go for a stroll...

My baby blue cami is from Topshop last summer. It's a lovely flattering fit and the colour is perfect to style with both monochromatic and more colourful outfits.

My culottes were a bargain at £3, from Primark. They are the comfiest trousers I own and are great for the warmer months. My Coat is also from Primark and as are my sunglasses. The coat is a long white duster - only £19.99 and my sunglasses were £1!

My boots are the usual suspects from New Look, adding a classy feel to the look and my bag is from ASOS.

What would you be wearing on a sunny day out?
